How To Make Fruit Smoothies At Home

There are many different ways to make them but it is important to keep in mind that just about every fruit smoothie is made with some kind of liquid, fresh or frozen fruit and optionally addon like whey protein powder.

With Milk
One popular way is to use milk as you main liquid ingredient to blend with your fruit. To me, if I use milk, I have to include strawberries and bananas because they seem to work the best with milk. And if you want to go non-dairy but still have it somewhat milky, you can use things like almond milk, coconut milk or soy milk. Check out this quick recipe. Just throw everything in your blender and give it a whirl: 1 cup of milk 1 banana 1 cup of frozen strawberries 2 tablespoons of honeyWith Yogurt
Want to add a bit of yogurt to the mix? Regular, greek or frozen? Well, the recipe above can be very easily adapted. All you have to do is substitute the 1 cup of milk for 1/2 a cup of plain yogurt and a 1/2 a cup of milk. Done! You can also substitute the strawberries for a mix of frozen wild berries. I find these frozen berries in the freezer section of my local supermarket. With Ice
In the summer, I like to use a bit of ice to chill things down a little more. Kind of like a smoothie slushy. Here is my go to recipe for using ice - great for sitting out on the deck and soaking up the sun! 2 cups of strawberries 1 cup of pound cake crumbles 1 cup of ice 1 cup of milkFruit Only or Fruit Salad Smoothie
The key to a fruit only smoothy is that you need al east one fruit that has a good amount of juice in order to help blend things up and puree things. Great for babies or toddlers too!
